BMW Car Club of America E31 Chapter – The Voice of E31 Owners

May 2023 President’s Update – by Henry Christoff

Greetings Everyone!

REMINDER: While quantities last, new E31 Chapter members and those who renew their membership will receive a free E31 hat pin! Since January, we have mailed E31 pins to folks who have renewed their E31 Chapter memberships. It’s our way of showing appreciation of your continued E31 Chapter support!

The Spring Edition of the E31News brought a lot of positive comments on the quality and content of the E31 Chapter newsletter! Many thanks to John Berge, our newsletter editor – great job!

Jeff Gomon, the Non-Geographic Chapters Regional Vice President, has advised that $250.00 has been released from National to the E31 Chapter to help with event sponsorships. You’ll note that the E31 Chapter is sponsoring several vintage BMW events in 2023. The weekend of April 28th, we lent sponsorship to the Southeast Sharkfest. Because of that sponsorship, we were given a prominent location for our
“E31 Chapter Logo” on the Southeast Sharkfest website. I’ve had several people last week alone reach out to me because they saw our logo there. We hope to have photos and a report from that event in our next edition of the E31News.

We have a good number of our E31 Chapter Motor t-shirts still available – see the spring edition of the E31News on our website to order. We take all the major credit cards and ship the shirts via Priority Mail!

E31 Chapter Elections- Coming Soon!

As of this writing, we have not had anyone come forward to toss their hat into the ring for the positions of President, Secretary or Membership Chair. Consider supporting your Chapter and the E31 community!

The following E31 Chapter Board positions will be up for election this June, with new folks beginning their elected terms in August.
The following three positions will be voted upon: President, Secretary and Membership Chairperson. If interested in any of these
positions, please email your interest to pres@bmwccae31.com no later than April 30th. Each office is a three year term. These are
volunteer positions, and we are looking for E31 enthusiasts who want to be involved!

Please include the following in your email:
1. Name
2. BMWCCA member number
3. Position Running for: President, Secretary or Membership Chairperson
4. Include a paragraph or two with details of your qualifications and or why you would like to be elected to the office.
The May and June President’s Monthly Update will list those running for office with a brief of their qualifications. Elections will be
held June 15 through June 30th. Winners will be announced in the July issue of the President’s Monthly Update. Voting will be by
email to the current E31 Chapter secretary. Those and additional details will follow at election time.

The Responsibilities
The President shall officiate at all meetings. The president will be responsible for the general management of the Chapter including the
arranging and coordinating of events or activities and furtherance of the designed purposes of the Chapter. The president will promote and
coordinate all E31 Chapter activities to include: E31News newsletter production with the newsletter editor; coordinate national and local
events with the Events Coordinator; work hand in hand with the Vice President and Treasurer of the Chapter.

Since the E31 Chapter is a Non-geographic Chapter and are unable to host monthly meetings with the membership, the president will provide the E31 Chapter membership with regular updates of interest to E31 owners and enthusiasts; be the contact person with National with regard to Chapter issues; keep the E31 Chapter board apprised of all Chapter activities and issues; be the principle contact for for E31 Chapter members and enthusiasts world-wide.

The Vice President shall officiate in the absence of the President.

The Secretary shall maintain minutes of all meetings, carry on all correspondence, keep all current Club records and perform other duties as assigned by the Board.

The Membership Chairperson will be responsible for maintaining the Chapter membership roster and promoting the E31 Chapter to retain and find new members.

These are volunteer positions, with 3 year terms. As a general guideline, the president’s position will take the most time each month, approximately 4-6 hours depending on Chapter activities/emails. Secretary and Membership chair only 2-3 hours monthly at most. We are looking for enthusiasts who want to be involved!
